Review: Tapestry for the Tropics by Tapestry Artists of Sarasota

"Tapestry for the Tropics by Tapestry Artists of Sarasota"(TAOS) exhibited weavings by Lynn Mayne and John Nicholson (below) and Terri Stewart (next page) and Becky Stevens (here) and (here). . . during Convergence 08.  It featured six series of tapestries -- providing two related items can be classified as a series. . . .

Working in series has allowed us to see the visual prowess of mature artists, who confidently present pieces that reveal individualistic interests. . . There is a freedom to render exotic hair configurations, fluid curves, lacey wings, and dynamic architectural towers.
