Barbara Burns exhibited her tapestries at Maine Fiberarts . . . in the town of Topsham . . . [Maine] from April 7 - June 30, 2009. . . . she studies with Archie Brennan and Susan Martin-Maffei as a member of the Wednesday Group. This study . . . is evident in the many figure tapestries hung on either side of a window in the gallery room. The strong line, simplicity, and subtle color use indicates that Barbara certainly paid attention to her mentors. The multiple, small figure studies were boldly calligraphic . . Barbara states: ". . .I started out weaving the faces of women who are historically significant and important to me. Now I'm weaving the figure and faces that interest me for their beauty and personal connection." |
